Problem
When trying to open a page of the DRACOON Web App (for example, a sharing page) in the Safari browser, the following message appears: "This application requires cookies. Please enable cookies in your browser and try again." The page is not displayed, and the DRACOON Web App cannot be used.
Cause
You have probably specified in the Safari preferences that Safari should block all cookies. When this preference is set, Safari not only blocks cookies, but also the local storage of Safari for web apps.
The DRACOON Web App does not use cookies, but it requires the local storage of the browser. Since the local storage is also blocked when the setting Block all cookies is activated, the DRACOON Web App will not work in this case.
Solution
In Safari, disable the setting to block all cookies.
- On the menu bar, click Safari > Preferences.
- Click the Privacy tab.
- Clear the Block all cookies checkbox.
You can safely turn off the Block all cookies setting because Safari now generally blocks problematic third-party cookies that are often used to track user behavior across websites—even if Block all cookies is turned off.
The setting Block all cookies should not be used because it causes problems and loss of functionality not only in the DRACOON Web App but also on many other websites—that's why Safari displays the warning "Websites may not work" when activating this setting.
