DRACOON for Outlook contains an extended error logging, which can be activated if necessary. If it is active, all processes in DRACOON for Outlook are recorded in a log file (log file). This log file can be helpful for problem analysis.
The extended error logging in DRACOON for Outlook is controlled by an entry in the Windows registry.
If you are asked by the DRACOON support to activate the error logging in DRACOON for Outlook, proceed as follows:
Enable advanced error logging
- In the Outlook ribbon, in the DRACOON area, click Options and then Settings.
- Click Advanced in the left navigation column.
- For Log Settings, select Advanced in the Details drop-down box:
- Click OK to save the changed setting.
The extended error logging of DRACOON for Outlook is now active. - If you have a specific problem with DRACOON for Outlook, try to recreate the problem scenario specifically so that the problem occurs again and all operating steps and internal processes can be logged in the process.
Send error log to DRACOON Support
If you have been asked by DRACOON Support to send in the DRACOON for Outlook error log, proceed as follows:
- In the Outlook ribbon, in the DRACOON area, click Options and then Settings.
- Click Advanced in the left navigation column.
- Click Open Location:
- A folder is opened in Windows Explorer in which all log files created by DRACOON for Outlook so far are listed (DRACOON for Outlook creates a new log file for each day). Select the log file of the corresponding day on which the error was logged.
Tip: To quickly locate the most recent log file, sort by the Date Modified column by clicking on the column header. - Send the file to DRACOON Support (e.g. as an attachment in the ticket form).
If the problem has been logged successfully, you should disable the extended error logging again (see next section), because it has a performance-reducing effect as long as it is enabled.
Disable extended error logging
How to disable the extended error logging of DRACOON for Outlook:
- In the Outlook ribbon, in the DRACOON area, click Options and then Settings.
- Click Advanced in the left navigation column.
- For Log Settings, select Default in the Details drop-down box:
- Click OK to save the changed setting.
The extended error logging of DRACOON for Outlook is switched off with immediate effect.
