Using DRACOON for iOS on iPad offers the same functionality as on iPhone. In addition, however, the multitasking capabilities of iPad can be used. Since iPad also offers considerably more space for display, DRACOON for iOS offers special views on iPad, which are described in this article. For a complete description of all app features, please refer to the general Usage article.

Browse through images
After opening an image, you can swipe left or right to navigate through the images in the current folder. In the left column, you will always see a marker that highlights the currently displayed image.
If you want to use more space for viewing the opened files, you can hide the navigation area with the double arrow icon and concentrate completely on the display of your file. If you want to return to the standard view, tap on the icon with the left arrow.
Use Split View for multitasking
Starting with version 5.9, DRACOON for iOS fully supports Split View on the iPad. This allows you to split the screen in two and display another app side by side to the DRACOON app so that you can use both apps at the same time.
Example: DRACOON app (left) and iOS Files app (right) displayed side by side:
Exchange files with other apps using drag and drop
Starting with version 5.9 of DRACOON for iOS, you can exchange files with other apps using drag and drop in Split View. This works in both directions: Files can be transferred from the DRACOON app to the adjacent app and vice versa.
Please note: If you drag and drop a file from the DRACOON app into another app, a download share for the file is created by default and its share link is transferred to the other app, not the file itself. For example, when dragging a DRACOON file into the mail app where you're composing an email, a share link for the DRACOON file is inserted into your mail draft.
If necessary, you can specify in Settings that no share is created and that an original copy of the DRACOON file is transferred to the other app instead (see below).
Transfer a DRACOON file as a share link to another app
- Arrange the DRACOON app and the desired target app side by side in Split View.
- In the DRACOON app, tap the file for which you want to create a share link and transfer it to the other app, and drag the file to the other app. A green plus sign above the destination indicates that you have selected a valid destination.
- Release the file. A share is automatically created for the file and the share link is transferred to the target app.
The target app alone decides how the transferred share link is processed. If you drop a file, for example, into a mail draft or a document window, the share link is usually inserted into it. If, on the other hand, you drop the file into the Files app, for example, it creates a text file in which the share link is stored. The DRACOON app has no influence on how the target app handles the share link.
You can also drag multiple files at once into the other app. In the DRACOON app, swipe down with two fingers to enable multiple file selection. Tap to select all the files you want, and then drag one of the selected files to the other app. A separate download share will be created for each selected file and transferred to the target app as the respective share link.
Alternative: Transfer an original copy of a DRACOON file to another app
In some cases, it is desired to transfer the original DRACOON file to another app, not a share link for the file.
- In the DRACOON app, tap Settings and under Drag & Drop, switch off Create share link.
- Arrange the DRACOON app and the desired target app side by side in Split View.
- In the DRACOON app, tap the file you want to transfer to the other app and drag the file to the other app. A green plus sign above the destination indicates that you have selected a valid destination.
- Release the file. A copy of the file is transferred to the target app. No new share is created for the file.
The target app alone decides how the transferred file is processed. If, for example, you drag an image file into an email draft or a document window, the image is usually inserted there. If you drag the image file to the Files app, for example, it will be copied to the current folder there. The DRACOON app has no influence on how the target app handles the transferred file.
Transfer a file from another app to DRACOON
You can also drag and drop files from another app into the DRACOON app, which uploads the files to DRACOON.
- Arrange the DRACOON app and the desired source app (e.g. the Files app) side by side in Split View.
- In the DRACOON app, open the data room or folder where you want to store the new files.
- Select the desired files in the source app and drag them to the DRACOON app. The files will now be uploaded to DRACOON and saved to the target data room or folder.
Settings
App settings can be found in the navigation bar at the bottom with the gear symbol. Unlike the iPhone view, the settings on iPad open in a dialog window. Otherwise, the functionality is identical.
