System Requirements
Software
There are no special software requirements for the file system. Any storage location that can be mounted as a drive or destination on the operating system of the API server can be configured. However, to provide the best possible protection for the data, we recommend using an encrypted file system or encrypted storage as the destination (e.g. “LUKS” on Linux, “Bitlocker” on Windows or better encrypted storage).
Hardware
There are no special requirements for the hardware used.
Scalability and Redundancy
For scalability, the volume that provides the basis for the file system can be increased. The existing storage system and operating system technologies are used to do so. To deal with performance issues, a faster storage system (e.g. more spindles, better connection) can be used.
If a redundant setup is required, it is sufficient to use technologies provided by the storage system or operating system. For example:
- On Linux: GlusterFS, DRBD
- Direct storage technologies: NetApp Metrocluster, DataCore
