This article explains how to completely remove an installation of DRACOON for Windows from your PC.
1Uninstalling the DRACOON for Windows software (Windows 10)
- Right-click the Start button, and then click Apps and Features.
- In the Apps & features window, select DRACOON from the list of installed programs and click Uninstall.
- Confirm the prompt by clicking Uninstall again.
- Confirm the security prompt of User Account Control by clicking Yes.
- In the Uninstall program, click Uninstall.
- Restart Windows after the uninstallation is complete.
2Removing settings
- In File Explorer, open the folder %AppData%\iterate_GmbH. (Copy this path, paste it into the address bar of File Explorer and press ENTER).
- Delete the subfolder that starts with DRACOON.exe
(Example: DRACOON.exe_Url_eh5krbhovkgvx2e4okj4dfc1e245goqu.
The digit-letter combination after _Url_ is different on every PC).
3Removing bookmarks (connection entries) and log file
- In File Explorer, open the folder %AppData%.
- Delete the subfolder DRACOON.
4Removing the offline cache
- In File Explorer, open the folder %LocalAppData%.
- Delete the subfolder DRACOON.
5Removing saved login data (user name and password) and the stored decryption password
- Click the Start button and type Credential.
- Credential Manager is displayed at the top of the search results. Press ENTER to start it.
- Under Manage your credentials, click Windows Credentials.
- Scroll down to Generic Credentials.
- In the list, find the entry that begins with Cryptomator Passphrase. Click the entry and click Remove at the bottom.
- Confirm the security prompt by clicking Yes.
- In the list, find the entry that begins with https://DRACOON%20%. Click the entry and click Remove at the bottom. Confirm the security prompt.
- If there are other entries beginning with https://DRACOON%20%, remove them as well (a separate entry exists for each bookmark you created in DRACOON for Windows).
- In the list, find the entry that begins with Triple-Crypt Encryption Password. Click the entry and click Remove at the bottom. Confirm the security prompt.
- If there are other entries beginning with Triple-Crypt Encryption Password, remove them as well.
