What are the restrictions of encrypted data rooms?

Basically, you can work with encrypted data rooms in the same way as with unencrypted rooms. In our DRACOON clients for Windows and Mac, as well as the apps for Android and iOS, you will hardly notice anything about encryption.

Nevertheless, the following restrictions exist for technical reasons:

DRACOON cloud

1. Copying or moving files from unencrypted data rooms to encrypted data rooms (and vice versa) is not possible. (However, files can be copied or moved from encrypted rooms to other encrypted rooms.)
2. In the DRACOON Web App, only files with a maximum size of 2 GB per file can be downloaded in Firefox and Safari (to download larger files, DRACOON for Windows/Mac can be used). This restriction does not apply to the browsers Chrome and Edge.
3. Shares can only be created for files but not for entire rooms or folders.
4. Shares must be password protected.
5. Share passwords cannot be sent via SMS.
6. PDF files cannot be digitally signed using DRACOON.
7. For image and PDF files, no thumbnails (small previews) are displayed in the file list, just a file type icon.
8. The data room cannot be accessed via WebDAV (Tip: Use our clients DRACOON for Windows or DRACOON for Mac, which support client-side encryption, instead).
9. The maximum file size (per file) is 60 GB.

DRACOON Server (on-premises customers, for example)

1. Previews for files (images, videos, and PDF documents) are not available. (To preview these files, they must be downloaded first, after which they can be opened with another program.)
2. It is not possible to download multiple selected files or an entire folder as a single bundled zip file.
3. Copying or moving files from unencrypted data rooms to encrypted data rooms (and vice versa) is not possible. (However, files can be copied or moved from encrypted rooms to other encrypted rooms.)
4. In the DRACOON Web App, only files with a maximum size of 1 GB per file can be downloaded in Firefox and Safari (to download larger files, DRACOON for Windows/Mac can be used). This restriction does not apply to the browsers Chrome and Edge.
