About this release
Version 4.26 of DRACOON Core was rolled out on the DRACOON cloud on March 10, 2021 and replaces the previous version 4.23.7.
New feature
Client-side encryption with keys of 4096-bit length and option for configuration managers to distribute file keys
Version 4.26 of DRACOON Core now supports keys of 4096-bit length (previously 2048 bit) for client-side encryption. This ensures that the security of the encryption is safe for years to come.
In order for the new key lengths to become active, users have to re-enter their decryption and emergency passwords (the latter concerns only room administrators and configuration managers) once in the web app—until then, the existing 2048-bit keys continue to be used.
In addition, version 4.26 of DRACOON Core includes a new option for configuration managers to create missing file keys for other users (e.g. if they changed their decryption password) by entering the system-wide emergency password, which can allow users to gain access to encrypted files faster.
Performance improvements
Searching for files is now much faster (up to 80%); in addition, important operations of the client-side encryption (for example, the calculation of missing file keys) are significantly faster.
